Position: ReStore Customer Service Associate

Reports to:  Manager on Duty  

 

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred. Retail experience desired.

 

Requirements/Skills: Must be “team oriented”, committed to customer service, have very good people skills and understand own knowledge limitations. Should have ability to be “customer friendly” yet firm. Ability to handle money, make change, change paper on machines, etc. required. Candidate must be friendly, yet industrious. Good phone presence and positive and professional demeanor required. Needs to be organized and able to work with others to organize ever-changing inventory in existing space. Must be flexible.

Must be in good physical condition and able to repeatedly move, rearrange and lift items weighing up to 50#  Familiarity with email, Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Good communication skills (both verbal and written) are necessary. Must be able to support and articulate the mission of HFH-QC and the mission of the ReStore. The ability to work effectively and sensitively with a diverse group of people and the ability to represent and have an understanding of our organization is required. Must be able to work Wednesday evenings (until 7 pm) and most Saturdays.

 

Job responsibilities include:

Safety – Store Associate is expected to keep an eye out for potential safety hazards and        eliminate them or bring them to the attention to someone who can. SA will also look out for the safety of other paid and volunteer staff.

Customer service/Volunteer resource. Job will include answering questions, providing direction to volunteers and customers, assisting with merchandise, clarifying policies, answering phone (occasionally), greeting customers.

Back up “go to” person. Store Associate will need to develop sufficient knowledge of          merchandise and store procedures to be able to fill in for manager on duty during lunch or brief absences. SA will be the secondary resource for questions.

Material management. Merchandising and assisting staff and volunteers to prepare appropriate space for incoming items.  Facilitate the logical and attractive display of merchandise. To do this, the Store Associate needs to have a working knowledge of the location, and quantity of ReStore merchandise. Store Associate must also be able to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50#.

Cashier assistance. Bagging, facilitating checkout, covering cashier absences

Volunteer assistance. Add jobs to daily list and/or facilitate utilization of volunteers.

Help volunteers sign up for work, check-in/out on computer if necessary.

 

Other:

Routine cleaning – Store Associate is expected to assist with overall store cleanliness.

Occasional office assistance – Make signs, price tags, etc. as needed

Other duties as assigned
